ABSTRACT
Despite the conflicting interpretations and convenient deployment of the term ‘ecotourism’ within the tourism industry, one thing is certain – the increasing global interest and exponential growth in ecotourism cannot simply be explained as another in a long line of recreational trends. Instead it reflects a fundamental shift in the way human beings view and engage with nature.
