ABSTRACT
Given this preposterous supposition, the media’s alarmism and demands for political action to curb energy use become more understandable. But such measures as raising taxes on fossil fuels are foolhardy until a scientific consensus can show that: Global warming is occurring; it is not a natural and inevitable planetary change; and it is harmful. Unless the countries involved recognize this self-evident fact, they will be passing on higher energy costs to their citizens for no apparent reason.
