A vast variety of goods (and services – for example, restaurants offering facilities for Christmas) fall into the category of seasonal products, and market research plus experience will tell those concerned quite clearly when the peaks are to be expected. However, there can still be unpredictable surges (or slumps) in demand, plus special priority orders. In the face of fierce competition, it is essential to get the product to its destination on time – and the person who decides what is meant by ‘on time’ is the customer!
