The human resources – the people – who work in an organization are the most important resource that the organization has. Every organization should have a human resource plan which supports the business objectives. The organization’s business plan will indicate what kinds of knowledge and skills employees will require and will give an indication of the numbers of staff that will be needed for the business objectives to be achieved. A human resource plan is required to ensure that sufficient staff are recruited into the organization, staff are retained by the organization, that they are used effectively, are trained in the necessary skills and that they move out of the organization when it is appropriate.
