Safety and security hazards
Having drawn a fairly comprehensive picture of how work progresses through the firm, we can start to look at some of the more obvious hazards that may exist in each of these areas. In this case, we are defining hazard as ‘something that could potentially cause harm, injury, or damage to people and property’, although the likelihood of it doing so may be quite small. We have included damage to property as well here, as sometimes this could itself lead to harm to someone at a later date and indeed we want to make sure that your insurers are happy that things are under control. Later chapters will consider health and fire risks in more detail, but for now we shall concentrate on safety and security issues in each of the work areas we have identified.
