Accessible Toilet, Bathroom and Shower Design
The entrance to the toilet area is important, in size, method of opening the door and location within the room. Further and more detailed information on door designs is located in Chapter 14.
Lobby entrances to toilets may be required to protect the inside of the cubicle from the view of passers-by and to act as sound and smell barriers. Where used they should comply with the minimum dimensions specified in the drawings, with a minimum lobby dimension of 1500 mm by 1800 mm. Where possible, the external lobby door should be replaced by an offset entrance/vanity wall arrangement, so that there is only one door to pass but clear vision of the cubicle is restricted.
