'So what's the job?'

And yet there is a complication that stands in the way and must first be considered. There is a school of thought which asserts that the 'job', as we have understood it, is on the way out; that its very existence has become a barrier to progress. To set up the 'job', any 'job', could, on this argument, constitute a tacit admission of some failure on the part of management to come to realistic terms with the future.
