ABSTRACT

A second and larger group of unbuilt houses are those that have five blocks with straight links. Robert Adam liked this arrangement, for he could create movement by varying the heights and the alignment of the central block, links and pavilions. Table 4.2 gives the front configuration for each design which has adequate drawings. It shows the number of bays and floors in each block, using this order: left pavilion-left link-central block-right link-right pavilion. The houses are given in approximate order of the number of bays.
