THE DOCUMENT DEFINED It is estimated that 60 per cent of an average business person's time is spent processing documents. World-wide, this equates to an average production of over 92 billion originals and 400 billion photocopies a year.1 Thought is rarely given to how each of the documents has been conceived, written, produced, or even distributed. The only important fact for many people is that there is a tangible mechanism for the exchange of information.
