Since the dawn of time the forces of nature have provided theinspiration for poets, painters and photographers alike and still never fail to move us. The flicker of fire and the mystery of the ocean fascinate us, which is something that Hollywood has long realized. CG films based around the power of nature - The Perfect Storm, Dante’s Peak, Volcano and Twister - carry on a long tradition that harks back to The Towering Inferno and The Poseidon Adventure. From the power of these forces at their most destructive to the beauty of a simple sunset, visual effects artists have long endeavored to impersonate Mother Nature.
