ABSTRACT

During the 1970s the European Community adopted several principles related to equal treatment for women and men: the principle of equal pay for men and women (1974); the principle of equal treatment for men and women as regards access to employment, vocational training, promotion, and working conditions (1976); and the principle of equal treatment for men and women in matters of social security (1978). The decisions taken by the European Community are in fact directives that have to be implemented by national bodies in all Member States.
