It will take time and practise to hone your knowledge skills. If you are to feel that the effort is worth it, you have to be rewarded for this. Performance management systems can become a paper-shuffling exercise in which the spirit of the system is lost to the excessive time demands made on managers. The forms are hurriedly filled in to comply with the systems, but the coaching and feedback skills that are supposed to make the systems effective take second place to the achievement of more immediate business objectives.
