ABSTRACT
When a person moves into a new managerial job, he or she must decide how to proceed. Making changes becomes a very delicate matter. The following case study describes the success of an Air Force colonel who took over a new command. He describes the philosophy and approaches that made him successful. The colonel found that it was important to “know the territory” and gain the respect of subordinates.
