ABSTRACT

Wholesaling includes all transactions in which the purchasing business intends to re-sell the product. In marketing, wholesaling is more than cash and carry wholesaling operations. Most channel intermediaries could fall into this classification. Wholesalers therefore provide services for both producers and retailers and are involved with many activities: (a) managing wholesaling operations; (b) negotiating with suppliers; (c) promotion; (d) warehousing and product handling; (e) transport; (f) inventory control and data processing; (g) security; (h) pricing; (i) financing and budgeting; (j) providing marketing advice to clients.
