ABSTRACT

I’ve witnessed many operators use Levels in preference t o Curves. Levels has a great deal t o do with ink levels and isn’t t o be ignored. Without wishing to decry this practice I personally find Curves subtler. Methods of using the Eyedropper tools, when setting White and Black points to interact with Levels settings, are shown in a later chapter. I also find Curves more predictable and controllable than Levels. Curves also bears a striking resemblance to characteristic curves of light sensitive emulsions. As I come from a darkroom background, this makes more sense to me.
