ABSTRACT

Creating a selection for the halo is relatively easy in Photoshop. Masks are probably the most time-consuming task in Photoshop. It is certainly worth taking time and being patient. Successful selections are not achieved with the mere click of a mouse and push of a button. Selections require the same care as painting a mask on a print. Once a good selection has been created and saved, it can be modified, the variation can be saved to another Alpha channel, and used again in any variety of ways. The selection for this image is a fairly easy technique, and doesn’t need to be particularly accurate, as it is creating a soft edged halo, not a precise cutout.
