ABSTRACT
In film and video, different clips or scenes are connected by transitions. Anytime you use a simple cut between two shots, you have a transition from one shot to the next.
A very common editing technique is to use a dissolve as a transition that fades between
the two shots over time. Ten-frame dissolves are common in commercial ads. Feature
films and prime-time dramas often use dissolves that last over 5 seconds. Transitions are
also used to start and finish a given program by fading from and to black.
