ABSTRACT
For years, Adobe has incorporated a rare and interesting digital format to be used between a few of their applications called the filmstrip. When this chapter refers to a
“filmstrip”, there is no celluloid involved beyond a metaphor. However, when a film-
strip is opened in Photoshop, it takes on the appearance of celluloid. This type of file
is really a series of video frames laid out sequentially and numbered at the bottom of
each frame as shown in the figure above. To generate a filmstrip, you need Adobe
Premiere or After Effects. As long as you are able to create a filmstrip file, there are
some very creative ways to take advantage of this unique format.
