What Is the Connection to Organizational Culture?
One reason for the popularity of 360" feedback is that its proponents claim implementation can have positive effects on the culture of an organization. This chapter will explore the connection between 360" feedback and organizational culture and will begin by carefully defining culture in an organizational context. In so doing, this chapter will consider a popular form of culture in recent times that has become associated with the phenomenon of total quality. The relationship between 360" feedback and a total quality culture will be clarified. This discussion will then lead into an elaboration of the push-pull relationship between 360" feedback and organizational culture, an issue introduced in Chapter 2. This chapter concludes with an acknowledgment of the potential downside of 360" feedback with regard to culture, that is, the potential for negative effects.
