Design Techniques and Automated Development Tools
Historically, improvements to the product development process have focused on the application of various design techniques and automated development tools. Often touted as “silver bullets,” these tools and techniques promised dramatic improvements in time-to-market, product quality, and engineering productivity. Unfortunately, many companies investing in a specific tool or technique found that improvements were minimal. Often the disappointing results were attributed to flaws in the tool or technique, when in reality fault was due to improper implementation.
