ABSTRACT

We start this chapter with a brief overview of research methods that could be employed

to monitor the uptake of building products in the specifier’s office. This is followed by

a description of a research programme that monitored the uptake of building products

in design office over a 3-year period. This helps to highlight what happened to infor-

mation as it entered the design office, how specifiers became aware of the products,

why they selected or rejected them, and the pressures to change their initial choice.
