ABSTRACT

The volume of information available to the building designer is vast. Each new proj-

ect brings with it a new set of challenges and a fresh search for information to answer

the questions raised during the design stages. This chapter provides an overview of the

resources available, from information provided by regulatory and advisory bodies

to that provided by the manufacturers. We also consider the information held within

the specifier’s office encoded in previous projects, office standards and master

specifications.
