ABSTRACT

So far we have looked mainly at the organisational and technical side of program making. In this chapter we will be looking at the editorial and creative side of the process. One of the principal features of television is that it cuts across a broader range of disciplines than any other medium – journalism, music, drama, sport, comedy and so on. It offers opportunities to exercise a variety of skills and pursue many different interests. So we will be looking at what can happen in the case of a number of different types of production – a news story, a current affairs spot, a corporate video and a drama production.
