ABSTRACT

There are two ways of putting a program together.

One way is to leap out with a camera and start shooting. This is the fun way and you may get away with it. But the chances are that it will be a disaster and even if it isn’t, you could have wasted a good deal of time, money and other people’s goodwill.

The other way is to prepare as thoroughly as you can. There are a hundred and one things you may need to do in pre-production and you’re unlikely to have done them all before you start to shoot. Pre-production tasks have a habit of dragging on into the later stages as well.
