ABSTRACT

Bar Sheets From the advent of sound pictures until the Digital Revolution, the practice was that after the soundtrack was assembled with the called-for pauses or slugs timed accordingly to the story reel, the director fi ne-tuned his timing instructions on bar sheets. At Walt Disney these were also called ‘ the greys ’. The director decides on scene continuity, the exact length of each scene and what action takes place within it. They also plan the pace of the storytelling and decide where tracks, pans, mixes, etc. are needed to put the story over in the best possible way.
