Avoid having all parts of the fi gure coming to a stop at the same time. If a character jumps into a scene, for example, he might come in on an arc, squash, then recoil upwards too far before coming to rest in the fi nal pose. Even after his body has stopped it may be eff ective to have his arms continue for another few frames. If the character has any loose extremities, such as coat-tails or feathers in his hat, these must take some time to stop. These would probably be drawn on separate eel levels to allow for this. When a fi gure comes to a hold, any extremities which have been trailing behind keep on moving then settle back, perhaps too far, before coming to rest (see page 61) .
