Working with audio
Audio can be dealt with in many ways on Avid systems. All the audio can be balanced, mixed and equalized on the computer and output to tape as the final mix or, when offline editing, little audio work may be done and the mix completed in a dubbing suite. In between are other options, such as outputting tracks via a mixer and balancing the sound on the fly, or outputting multiple tracks directly to a suitable tape machine for further work elsewhere. If you plan to finish on the Avid, the edit suite really needs a good amplifier and loudspeakers and appropriate sound deadening and isolation. The typical setup with the disk drives and computer whirring and whistling next to the editor does not make for a good audio environment!
