ABSTRACT

Then there are the tourism research conferences. As Goeldner (1999) points out, there are several international and national research conferences held around the world every year, as well as tourism ‘sessions’ run at disciplinary conferences such as geography, sociology and marketing. The proceedings of these conferences, together with the publications of university and other research centres, government departments and now web-sites make up the so-called grey literature of tourism research, which is probably even more vast than the published research literature.
