ABSTRACT

The UK cruise industry is young and growing rapidly – 140% in the past five years alone. This is due primarily to the introduction of tour operators entering the UK market and the increase in new ship builds. Cruise lines are investing heavily in the future of the cruise market, with the planned launch of more than 50 new ships over the first five years of the new century. The average age of a British cruise passenger is now 55, but in recent years cruising has attracted younger passengers, with 12% being under 35.
