ABSTRACT
In this chapter we cover a number of complex but important topics. The specialists will cry out in horror at some of the simplifications that I make here. My only excuse is that I want to convey the general principles covering how these technologies work rather than immersing myself in detailed discussions of each of the systems themselves.
