ABSTRACT

We have now covered all of the components of a typical Internet or intranet system. Let us look at how these work together to give us a better understanding of how the whole system functions.

We will look at a number of different scenarios to assist us in our efforts. These may well exist as distinct entities and in some situations they will exist in combination to provide a more complex networking setup. Either way the following examples will clarify the points covered in the earlier chapters. In each of the following scenarios please remember that individual installations and networks will differ in specific layout and components. What I am trying to do here is to summarise a range of “typical” situations and use these to tie together the points made in earlier chapters.
