ABSTRACT

Jumping in time is another way to introduce these breaks. You’ve undoubtedly seen the technique of running footage fast, then slow (made easy with After Effects’ Time Remapping feature); when pure jumps in time are applied to an otherwise slow action shot, you get this effect at its extreme – with a much more nervous result. Look closely at the sequence above (which starts after comp marker 8 in the final spot) stepping just a few frames per image: You’ll also note some double exposures resulting in layering the footage with itself, offset in time.
