ABSTRACT

Although most of the elements – such as the PAX logo – originated as print-like 2D, the overall look had to be very dimensional. This seemed to call for working in 3D. But the way individual elements were to evolve and interact went well beyond what is easy to control inside most 3D programs. Therefore, a diorama of the logos and

various light effects was created in 3D, rendered a piece at a time, and reconstructed inside After Effects. In the end, these layers faded in and out over time, were blended together using modes, and even acted as mattes for each other.
