ABSTRACT

Graham worked as an assistant project manager on a construction site for a large sports centre, where a number of companies were sub-contracted to carry out different parts of the job, from digging the foundations, constructing the walls and roofs, to installing ceilings, screens, handrails, and ducting for wires and pipes. When each team finished work on a particular section they were supposed to leave it clean and tidy for the next team. Unfortunately, this didn’t always happen in practice, and although the issue was raised at various project meetings attended by representatives of the sub-contractors, nothing much was ever done about it.
