ABSTRACT
Folded plates of the cross-section shown in Fig. 1.6 are very useful as they are simple to construct, can span considerable distances and cover large or small areas. Their upstanding edge beams and internal valleys provide gutters for rainfall drainage and, if they are to be propped with columns, as in Fig. 1.10, the vertical edge beams are good for local structural, deflection and reinforcement reasons.
