ABSTRACT

A FEW YEARS AGO, PIONEER RELEASED THE CDJ-1000,

AND DJS BEGAN TOYING WITH THE IDEA OF PLAYING

CDS. ERM, WEDDING DJS, THAT IS.

In sweaty hip-hop joints and on the dirty, dirty

dancefloors of Europe, walking into a club armed

with a box full of CDs was a death sentence for your

DJ reputation. CDs may have sounded better, you

might have been able to manipulate them more

thoroughly than records, and they may have

promised many a DJ a future without an S-shaped

spine, but dropping a digital tune was seen as a

direct affront to the great god Vinyl.
