Transducers and sensors
A sensor also converts power from one form to another, but the effi ciency is unimportant. The important factor for a sensor is linearity, because sensors are used in detection and measuring actions. Linearity means the extent to which the output is proportional to the input, so that a perfectly linear device would have a graph of output plotted against input that would be a straight line. A few devices (a microphone, for example) may be used as either a sensor or a transducer.
