Health and safety
We shall concentrate on electrical hazards because these are the main problems for a servicing workshop, but others (notably fi re) are also important. One particular diffi culty that faces anyone working on servicing domestic electronics equipment is the wide variety of working places, which can vary from a well-designed workshop, as safe as possible in the light of current experience, to a home in which a television receiver has failed, and in which
almost every possible hazard, from bad electrical wiring to the presence of children around the television receiver, exists. This huge difference in working conditions makes it vital for anyone working on electronics servicing to be aware of safe working methods and to practise them at all times, whether supervised or not.
