ABSTRACT

This is the part that gives the reader the context of your study. It should be a narrative, structured in such a way that it answers the six questions regarding research topic selection (see Box 1.3), basically describing what is happening in the industry that has attracted your attention. When describing the general state of knowledge on the research area, it is appropriate to refer to key researchers and their work – but don’t overdo it; the literature review has its place later in the proposal. Here, limit the references to the key ones and use them selectively in order to discuss the deficiencies of current studies. This discussion should lead to the formulation of the problem that your study is going to address.
