ABSTRACT

The reason station point is so important is shown by the following examples. Figure 13.2 shows a picture of a house with a fi gure in front of the garage door walking forward on the left. These two shots on the left were shot with a wide-angle lens from across the street, as illustrated in the diagram at the top. The pictures on the right were shot using the same station point (camera position) but using a longer focal length lens (to get a closer shot). When the full-frame fi gure was reduced and matted into the master shot on the left, the fi gure increased in size by the same amount as the fi gure photographed with the wide lens. When the station point is the same, the elements will fi t together regardless of focal length.
