chapter  3
Using electronic media effectively
Pages 23

Widespread usage of electronic media increases the risk of damage to employers' equipment through computer viruses and to their reputation through failures to protect confidential data from hackers. Staff who make excessive use of emails and the internet for personal reasons will waste valuable time, and run up costly telephone bills where employers have dial-up access (increasingly, though, organisations are switching to permanent connections). And, often more seriously, staff who send inflammatory emails - with rude, bullying, provocative or racist content, tor example - will cause considerable damage to relationships both inside and outside the organisation.
