ABSTRACT

Sony bundles three applications for Windows users, and two applications for Mac users. The Picture Motion Browser, an image sorting and editing program, is for Windows users only, and the Image Data Lightbox SR and Image Data Converter SR, both used for RAW processing, are for Mac and Windows users. I’ve been telling you throughout this book to shoot RAW images if you are in doubt about a shot; here I’ll introduce the concepts necessary to manage and develop those RAW files. RAW files represent the data that the sensor captured, and are saved without any processing. You can therefore make your own selections on a whole range of choices, including white balance, color mode, hue, saturation, DRO mode, and many others. But first, you need to install the software. Just take the CD out of the bright orange envelope and carefully insert it into your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions. Mac users must double-click the disk icon that comes up on the desktop, then double-click the MAC folder. Finally, double-clicking SIDS_INST.pkg will launch the install program.
