ABSTRACT

Spa facilities can utilise water from a variety of sources (e.g. mains water, ground water, sea water). Many spa treatments involve a high level of human exposure to water directly (e.g. plunge pool) or indirectly (aerosols) from the water (e.g. shower-based treatments). Consequently, from a human health (pathogen) perspective, the water quality must be to a standard considered to be fit for drinking.
