Introduction

Leading this team is the primary task of the team leader. An easy way to realize the importance of the leader to the team is to imagine what the team would be like without them. What would happen? Individual team members might carry out particular tasks, but they probably wouldn’t have any sense of purpose or clarity. They might not understand why the tasks needed to be carried out in the first place, and results would probably never rise above the mediocre.
