ABSTRACT

Procedural animation is the application of algorithms to create motion. These algorithms can be intelligent manipulation of the character based on rules and constraints or the implementation of a physics engine to drive the character based on simulated forces in relation to the environment it exists in. The combination of the two is the direction that game engines and intelligent animation systems are headed. By combining smart procedural motion with the weight and reality created by a physics engine, results can be achieved quickly and which are highly believable.
