ABSTRACT

Process First things rst: reference photos. I try to rely on myself for references as much as possible, and the way I use references is by compiling many different photos rather than directly copying from one source. In this case, I had to do four different sessions of photos in addition to looking at outside references to help with the skin tone and proportion. After taking a few quick references of myself in a trial pose, I opened Photoshop and created an initial sketch (Fig.01). When I work digitally, I rarely use line art; instead I plan my images with shapes and blobs of color. Color is very important to me, and it’s also something I struggle with, so I try to lay out my palette as soon as I can.
