ABSTRACT

Introduction File handling and working with directories is central to many scripting requirements. MAXScript can read and write text files (ASCII) as well as binary files. Importing and exporting scenes and files of various formats are sometimes required. Any file format 3ds Max supports can be imported or exported. This includes the powerful PBX format often used for translating character models and animation to 3ds Max and from other programs. Access to and creation of directories can be very useful. MAXScript can work with directories, and now in 3ds Max 9, working with symbolic pathnames has been enhanced. Lastly, the new Project Folder scheme is introduced.
