ABSTRACT

Imagine my disappointment when I fi nally broke down and purchased a shiny new 37 LCD widescreen high-defi nition (HD) television. The vast majority of the content I receive is standard defi nition (SD). Of the 800 channels, only about 40 are HD channels! Hmmm. And, what really surprised me was how many television commercials are still in standard defi nition and not high defi nition — even on the so-called “HD channels. ” But, my cable salesman promised me that, as the years go by, we will see more and more content delivered in HD and not SD. He’s a trustworthy guy, right?
