For many shooters, the creative mindset from decades ago still applies: do we want a fi lm or video look? The rival looks connote a different feeling and sensibility. In general, the fi lm look conveys a more dreamy transcendent feel and thus may be more appropriate for a narrative brand of storytelling, while the video look is more present tense or “immediate,” and thus more suitable for news and nonfi ction-type applications.
