ABSTRACT
Although some shooters may require a head that is small and mobile, the head should not be so lightweight as to preclude the use of long lenses for sports and wildlife applications. Smoothness of operation is especially important for sports and wildlife; so a fl uid head should be checked for “stickiness” throughout its range, including when set to “zero” drag. Needless to say, any stickiness can render the head ineffective.
